Caster Oil Packs: Bringing an Ancient Tradition into the Now for your Health

Caster Oil has been used for centuries topically for a variety of ailments and complaints. Naturopaths have long known its benefits, and I am now passing them on to you along with a step by step process of using them daily, every other day, or when you are having health complaints.


Caster oil packs - the process of letting a fabric soaked in Caster oil remain on the skin and gently heated with a heating pad, can help to alleviate all of the following, and then some! :

fibrocystic breasts

bloating

pain

swelling and inflammation

assist in detoxification

assist in the absorption of dietary fats - therefore improving hormone function

boost immune function

increases liver enzymes and therefore liver function - possibly having a normalizing effect on cholesterol

supports the flow of lymph -- our main drainage system for all of the bad bits happening inside our bodies

How does this oil manage to do all that?! By applying a caster oil pack to the skin, it triggers the production of lymphocytes - a key white blood cell in our immune system functioning - which helps boost the body's defense mechanisms to assist in killing bacteria, fungi, viruses and cancer cells.


Well this all sounds fantastic! Let's get down to the nitty gritty of the HOW.


1. Put on an old t-shirt or tank top that you don’t care too much about (your clothes may get sticky from the oil!). • Start to heat water for a hot water bottle. • Lift your shirt and locate the placement of your liver by hooking your fingertips under the bottom rib on your right ribcage. • Pour about an inch diameter of castor oil (sticky stuff!) into the palm of your hand and rub it directly on the skin at the location identified above. • Drape an old washcloth (one you don’t care much about) or small towel over the oil. • Fill your water bottle with the hot water and lay that over the towel on your right side. • Pull your shirt down over the water bottle and lie down to relax for 15 to 20 minutes. This is best done before bed, while reading and in a restorative position. It can be done regularly when the body needs additional support (during a cleanse or detox, antibiotic treatment or chemotherapy), or periodically for additional liver and lymph stimulation and suppor
